Copper Sun Novel Set

Help me give my students copies of the novel Copper Sun. This novel details the story of an African girl who is captured and enslaved in America. This novel will help students learn about American history.

My Project

My students are a very close-knit group. They have grown up together and spent every English class together throughout their high school careers.

This novel is a very heart-wrenching story about the experiences African slaves had in America.

Teaching this novel will expose the dark side of American history, and allow students to grapple with the tough topics that slavery addresses. Students will explore ideas regarding not only slavery, but indentured servitude, the roles of women, and interracial relationships. While these can be very tough topics, my students are mature and can handle exploring these difficult ideas.
