Coping Strategies and Tools to Address Student's Mental Health Needs

My Students

I work in a very diverse population. I work at the elementary (K-6) and middle (7-9) schools. The majority of students I work with struggle and have social/emotional/behavioral needs. With these deficits, I have the opportunity to see them make personal/independent changes on their own. I get to see them progress and I have the opportunity to assist them with each challenge. What makes my student special is the way they take on these challenges and how they learn from the very basics. We often set basic goals and I have seen every one of my students take on these goals and have seen them work hard in the general education curriculum.

My Project

The curriculum, first of all, will be utilized in counseling sessions to address ongoing emotional needs that have been occurring the past two years. It will also be utilized as a Tier 1, Tier 2, and Tier 3 intervention level also working one on one with students at both the elementary and secondary levels. The prizes will be utilized for those students who are on a daily behavior contract and for those who earn participation points in counseling sessions. This school year school psychologists did not receive any funding for these needs and this donation would be much needed and appreciated.
