Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
These items will be great additions to our self-contained special education classroom. Social emotional learning and coping activities are done daily. Our classroom disabilities range from emotional disability to Autism.
Our program has never utilized backpacks until this year, as we are fully imbedded into our middle school campus.
This means our students are receiving more mainstream opportunities, as well as, the ability to attend electives with gen ed students. Our students have binders and Chromebooks that they must carry around to each class. These backpacks will be kept at the school (due to safety reasons) and will allow them to carry around necessities daily.
Our classroom has a necessary coping area for our students. This area allows students to use coping strategies to calm down and remain in the classroom. This helps our students learn how to use these skills in everyday situations because they are learning when they feel overwhelmed to ask for this time.
