This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
Daily, engaging read-alouds are imperative to our first-grade students. Many students in our community do not have age-appropriate books at home or "bedtime stories" read to them. School is a place where they see, hear, and discuss books.
These high-interest books will enrich three first-grade classrooms to develop their love of reading and provide a time to listen, learn about and discuss story elements, and grow their critical thinking skills.
As a first-grade team, we have selected grade-level texts that are aligned with our standards. With your help, we are excited to give our students a literacy block that will create enthusiasm and open up conversations to enhance their vocabulary and thinking skills.
