My Students
My classroom consists of wonderful and talented students. I am a middle school special education teacher that teaches both general education students, as well as students with disabilities. Our school is a wonderful learning community, here to serve children of all needs and capabilities. The students in our school are amazing kids who face extreme challenges in and outside of the classroom due to high poverty.
Our school is also a Leader in Me school, where students receive weekly instruction based on Stephen Covey's 7 Habits of Highly Effective People.
We are a Title I public school. Our students receive free breakfast and lunch. We work hard to make our classroom a community and a family away from home. To make this happen, we have a variety of places in our classroom to learn in many different ways.
My Project
My classroom currently has no windows and was almost unbearable in September when the students arrived. I tried putting in some fans, but it just wasn't enough. Our school district has air conditioner projects in the works, but we will not be getting them in the foreseeable future. I researched these fans that cool the room down using ion technology. I am asking for two of them (one for the front of the classroom and one for the back). Keeping students engaged when summer is quickly approaching is a challenge in itself, let alone when it is 90+ degrees outside. Please help me keep the students cool this spring by bringing this project to life.
