My Students

My students come from a small, rural community. Our school is K-2 building where 67% of the students receive free or reduced price lunch. Despite any challenges my kiddos face, each and every one of them strive to be the best second-grader they can be each day. Engagement is necessary for me to teach to their various learning styles. I strive to make learning fun so my kiddos will want to come to school every day.

My students need to be exposed to STEM and collaborative learning skills, without being glued to a device.

Through a colleague, I learned about coding for elementary students. I saw first hand how excited her students were about coding and this new adventure she was taking them on.

These coding activities will help develop and support collaboration skills, in addition to problem solving and self advocacy. These are essential skills my kiddos will need to become successful as they mature into adulthood.

By working on both robotics and coding, in addition to social and emotional skills, these coding activities will help to meet the needs of all students in my classroom.

My Project

I would love for my students to experience a STEM learning environment daily through math stations! With a Bee Bot starter kit, Robot Mouse, and Coding Activity Set, they will be able to learn basic coding/programming, input/output, problem solving, collaboration and teamwork, creativity and imagination, and critical thinking.

Second-grade students will learn how to put in basic commands to make the Bee-Bots and mouse move through the maze they design.

Coding is an important piece of my student's future and being able to provide them with opportunities and exposure to possible careers they could have when they are older is a huge step in the process of these students becoming college and career ready when they graduate from High School.

We would love the opportunity to use hands on activities to encourage our creative thinking skills with these STEM kits and programmable Bee Bots.
