Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
This Peer led stress awareness event will be an initiative led be students in the 5th grade to serve the entire school population. The Stress Buster Team will visit each of the classrooms as we enter testing season to talk about anxiety and promote stress relieving activities they can engage in to destress post exams.
The various stress relief toys will be distributed throughout the school to all students in all classes by a 5th grade team of "Stress Busters".
Students throughout the building will be provided with snacks and resources to address stress due to testing. Fidget Toys and stress relieving toys will be distributed along with coloring books as a stress reliever. The Be Your Own Kind of Awesome Coloring Books, Fast Food Squishy Toys, Mini Pop Bubble Fidget Toys ad Slow rise Stress Balls will be distributed to attendees. Sour Patch Kids, Nabisco Cookies and Popcorn will be in the gift bags as well.
The entire school community will be served by this project as the event will allow for resources and fidget toys to be distributed to all students engaging in state exams.
As a counselor, my job is to serve the school community and their families in times of high stress and educate them as to available help. These resources will allow my students and myself to expose the entire school community to resources to address their mental wellness.
