This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
I teach students in a middle school setting and more than half my students have Autism. They would benefit from a proactive approach to assist them in decompressing prior to a meltdown. Academics are a struggle for many students that leads to a crisis. We can avoid these with a Calming Center.
The balance beams and stepping stones will provide my students with the ability to decompress and for the students with ADHD, it will let them get their energy out.
The tents can provide an environment that is calming and along with the speaker and light show machine, we can create a classroom that accommodates our students' emotional needs.
