it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
I teach 7th grade history at a Title I middle school. My students love asking big questions about the past and connecting history to their own lives. But my classroom environment often gets in the way of their success.
Our room is one of the smallest in the main building, with no built-in storage and no air conditioning.
In the hot autumn months, the heat and lack of airflow make it hard for students to focus, especially during long afternoon periods. I’m requesting a fan to help regulate the temperature and make the space more comfortable for everyone.
I’m also asking for shelving furniture to give us much-needed storage. Right now, learning materials, books, and student supplies are stacked in boxes or shoved in corners. This clutter makes it harder for students to find what they need and makes our classroom feel chaotic. With proper shelves, we’ll be able to organize materials so students can access resources quickly and feel proud of their learning space.
Finally, I’m requesting desk chair bands—simple stretchy bands that go on the legs of chairs—to help support students who need to move while they learn. Many of my students have a hard time sitting still, especially during writing or reading tasks. These bands give them a way to move quietly and stay focused without disrupting others.
My goal with this project is to create a calmer, more organized, and comfortable space where all students can focus and thrive. Every item I’m requesting will directly support their learning: the fan for comfort, the shelves for access to materials, and the chair bands for focus. My students deserve a space that matches their effort and potential, and your support will help make that possible.
