I teach 25 miniature humans who are from a variety of backgrounds who need to see themselves in literature!
Kindergarten is a continuation of education for most students.
However, in Brooklyn's East New York it is the first introduction of learning for my students. our Title I school is full of energy. However, summer becomes dangerously hot. Students struggle with asthma and need areas in the school where they can be safe! Lets get an air conditioner funded! Our classrooms should be comfortable so we relax and reach new heights!
My Project
Learning is fun and often requires a lot of movement! We learn through group work, hands on activities, and lots of games. It gets tricky when the warmer months come along. We often have to find a cooler location in the school to work in. Often a change of room is not an option. This becomes a dangerous situation for all the students with health issues. They often have to go home or to the nurse. When students have to leave the classroom this disrupts learning. I want to provide students every opportunity for success. An air conditioner will cool us off and keep us safe!
