Cooking Utensils and Kitchen Appliances Needed for Healthy Cooking/Baking!

My Students

As the School Counselor, one of my main responsibilities is to address the needs of the "whole child" and treat every student holistically. My students come with varying needs, and over 90% belong to impoverished homes. Their diverse cultures, needs, and experiences mean that one size does not fit all when it comes to guidance and counseling.

At my school, I wear many hats and I facilitate a vast diversity of students' and teachers' needs alike.

Currently, the capacity of my school budget has been limited and funds are usually used out of pocket. As the school counselor, I take a very active role in my students' lives. I visit classrooms daily and give presentations that build character and educate the students about hygiene, core values, and social behavior. Being heavily involved means sacrifices to ensure our mission is being met each year and that is providing an equal opportunity to each student who walks in our educational organization.

My Project

The toaster ovens will benefit our cooking/science projects tremendously as we cannot use the cafeteria appliance and we need ovens to bake.

My students will get to practice with child-friendly cooking and baking utensils to gain the skills they need to be successful while exploring math and science.

We will spend time in the classroom practicing "mock" skills to reach certain goals, but nothing is better than hands-on! My students will be able to go into the community to shop for the ingredients needed for cooking lessons/science cooking experiments.

The toaster ovens will also be a great asset to my classroom apart from a necessity to complete the recipes. It will allow my students to learn how to operate modern cooking appliances and will allow us to cook simple and healthy meals. Thank you so much for helping me give my students the best opportunity to gain these important life skills!
