Help me give my students social story books to help them explore difficult social topics.

My Project
I am hoping to add these enriching texts to the collection of books that teachers use in the classroom. Teaching students how to act in a social situation or manage their emotions can be extremely difficult to teach. These colorful books by Julia Cook give students a way to explore social issues such as lying, death of a loved one, and receiving feedback on work performance.
These books by Julia Cook can serve as a mentor texts to help students come up with strategies to improve their behavior.
I specifically chose these books by Julia Cook for this project because she has a very gentle approach to addressing big social issues. In each book Cook provides students with a strategy that they can use when found in a social situation. For example, "I can't believe you said that" discusses how to use a "social filter" to make sure the words we say to others are not hurtful or embarrassing. These books open up a good dialog for students to explore these topics in a safe classroom environment. My goal is that students will develop these social skills to use in school and out in the community. Furthermore these texts are also enjoyed by teachers and students as they are a part of the Accelerated Reader Program.
