My Project
Playful learning increases the learning, engagement, and independence in our littlest learners. To facilitate playful learning practices I will be arranging the classroom into designated center areas and will need a few supplies like color coded trays, dry-erase resource pockets and zipper pouches to keep the various centers stocked and organized. Students will be able to flow through literacy, math, science/social studies, blocks, library and art centers while also honing their social emotional skills.
A play kitchen will help create a space where kindergarteners can enter into imaginative play.
They will be cooking in a kitchen, working in a restaurant, visiting with family members, washing dishes, doing chores and whatever else their creative minds think up! The play kitchen will spark rich conversations, teamwork, and problem solving to name a few important skills. It will be a cornerstone of our playful learning.
The rack on our wishlist will hold the pocket chart and also be a physical divider to define a workspace nook for literacy and math centers. The pocket chart can provide a place to use task cards, flash cards and sentence strip activities. When at these centers students will work on academic tasks that afford them the practice with core content while also improving their teamwork, sharing, and conflict resolution abilities.
The meditation chime will be the soft attention getter signal for students to pause working and listen to teacher directions.
