My Students

We are a small, rural community with hard-working students who need assistance with acquiring resources. Elementary music is provided for every K-6 student in our district, and we are expanding our high school music course offerings as well.

Our K-5 students are excited to come to class each time and are constantly asking, "When can we play instruments?" Our current inventory was salvaged from past classrooms, last used over fifteen years ago, and our school is working hard to update it to fit our current needs.

To build up our new elementary music program, we are asking for your help! These students deserve the same enriching opportunities as those in other parts of our state or country.

The music room is a unique place for collaboration and where we can achieve great things together. It is my goal to inspire the passion of making music as a community, and what better time than now! These students deserve the best!

My Project

My students have been building up their musical skills through the past four years of our new elementary music program. Each day, we practice our Learning Sequence Activities, which we call our "Music Vegetables", that make us stronger tonally and rhythmically, just as eating our vegetables makes our bodies strong and healthy.

In order to most effectively grow their musicianship, I need to properly assess their music audiation.

These kits will provide me with tools to evaluate students, giving me information about their music aptitude, which will then inform my teaching practices. In order to "cook up" our "Music Vegetables" to a proper "meal", I need to know what level each student is at with their tonal and rhythmic musical skills.
