This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are a group of enthusiastic, energetic, and amazing six and seven year old children. A typical day in our classroom includes a lot of partner talk discussions and out loud sharing. My students love using technology, creating art projects, and sharing their ideas. As a Program Improvement School with a high English Language Learner population, I am constantly looking for hands-on learning tools that engage all students.

My Project

Living a healthy lifestyle is a passion of mine. For my project, I will use cooking to engage students across multiple subject areas and teach them how to eat healthy. Activities based on cooking is a fantastic way to keep students interested in learning and build teamwork skills.

Students will learn to read recipes, use math, work with each other, and eat healthy food as a reward.

I will use the grant money to buy the necessary supplies, materials, foods, and more to give each student the opportunity to participate. I will have to buy individual materials to keep students safe during the pandemic. To integrate technology, I will buy a subscription to Generation Genius to reference concepts in science and math with engaging videos. I want to foster a love for cooking, baking, and fueling our bodies with healthy foods.
