My Students
Our Pre-K students come in to school ready and excited to begin their learning adventure! We are in a Title I school and our students come to us with all kinds of different cultures, backgrounds, and languages. We feel that this only makes us more well rounded and able to learn from each other.
Although these students have overcome adversity already in their young lives they grow and succeed tremendously while attending our program.
They are excited to learn and try new things!
My Project
We have started a new curriculum in our Pre-K program this year. The creative curriculum focuses on project based learning and we will be doing a lot of cooking throughout the year. The items such as mixing bowls, baking set, and utensils will all be stored on the cart that we can share with each class.
These items will give our students a valuable life skill.
While they are developing fine motor skills by scooping and pouring they are also learning to measure and follow a recipe. Our students would not necessarily have these opportunities at home with these materials and we want to give them the experience of learning how to cook and bake.
These recipes will also give our students a chance to try something new. A lot of our students come from low income households and they may not be able to eat fresh foods with healthy ingredients on a regular basis. While they are learning about cooking they are also being introduced to new ingredients and foods that will impact what they may try in the future.
