Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My 3-6th grade students are hard workers every day in our current virtual learning stage. We are working with our garden teacher to learn about healthy eating and growing vegetables in the school garden.
Every other week, we make a recipe together using a fresh ingredient from the garden.
As we learn and cook together, we are in need of cooking supplies for our classroom. My hope is that my students will be able to help their families prepare and cook healthier meals at home.
My Project
My students are learning about healthy eating habits and how to make healthy dishes. Right now, we do not have a stovetop to assist in our cooking lessons.
An induction cooktop will help my students in their quest for healthy cooking and also prevent accidental burns on regular hotplates.
With an induction cooktop, we will be able to pull it out and use it on cooking days, but also store it away out of the way when not in use. We will also be able to use it for holiday feasts. Cooking lessons will also be linked in with math to further assist students in a well rounded learning environment.
