This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

This will be my second year teaching preschool, and I am so excited to get back to a new group of students experiencing their first year of school! They will learn vital skills such as social interaction, basic writing skills, letter and number concepts, and general school preparedness.

The majority of student and families that I work with come from low-income households.

Despite the hardships or challenges they may face at home, our classroom is always a steady place for them to learn and grow. I just love getting to help them get started on this new adventure!

As a preschool teacher, it is especially wonderful to see the amount of growth our students can make. They come in with a very basic level of knowledge, and then just flourish throughout the year. My hope is to give them all they can so that they will continue on to become successful students and adults.

My Project

The dramatic play, or house, area in our preschool classroom has a huge impact on the development of my sweet kiddos! This area in our room is one that is constantly used for all kinds of purposes. It can become a restaurant, laundromat, home kitchen, garden, store, doctor's office, and so much more! The wonderful imagination of my students can transform that small space into anything they want it to be, and then they get to use our props to further the imaginative play.

While things like a restaurant and a home kitchen are some of my student's favorite scenarios to create, they have a very limited amount of supplies to make that happen; this project can help change that!

While it may seem like just play to us adults, children learn so many skills in dramatic play situations. How to interact with others, build on each other's ideas to improve a game, share materials, think creatively, solve problems, and so much more! The tools in this project will only help further those imaginations and thought processes. I can't wait to see them in use and know my awesome littles will love them too!
