My students need reeds to play our clarinets and saxophones, and we are desperately short on flutes.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
We are building a new culture of musicians and artists, humans with compassion, empathy, and feelings and a way to express them. Our kiddos are each their own ambassadors for a future of their own making. They have all the personality, energy, passion, and talent needed, so I implore you to look deep into your musician’s hearts and give a little now for a great deal later. For they are our future and our futures need aiding.
Without trying these kiddos inspire you, the educator to keep pushing yourself forward in order to release the amazingness that is creativity.
They remind us daily that we are human and have a right to be human, and in order to be human, we must have a way and means to express ourselves. They do this with music and our guidance. We do this with materials and determination and with your generosity.
My Project
Here at our elementary school, our motto is “We do it right, and we do it right the first time.” As simple as that may sound, it carries with it a great voice and impact. So in order for our Beginning Concert Bands to succeed, we need to follow the same creed. Reeds, reeds, and reeds, and of course we need more. What are instruments without mouthpieces, but ornaments on our floor! We need reeds, mouthpieces and more, we will be able to explore the many vibrations that make up our brass and woodwind families. These vibrations will become pitches that will then become our beginning selections of music. We will have several concerts in celebration of our new found knowledge and tools of the trade. With these materials we will be able to continue traditions and experiences in all our cultures and communities.
