Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students attend a high poverty, Title I school in Phoenix, Arizona. More than half of the families of my students do not have enough money to buy art supplies for school and are considered low income households. Also, Title I schools have a high percentage of students who receive free and reduced breakfast/lunch.

My students not only come from low income, high-poverty homes but struggle with school in other areas (math, reading, and science).

I would like create an art project that uses colored construction paper!

My Project

The Construction Paper Collage Art Project will help students in my school manipulate paper and create art work. The students can use the materials to make a collage out of construction paper. They can cut different shapes and make flowers or use the paper to cut out organic shapes. They can learn about artists like Matisse who cut paper and created artwork with paper shapes. They will be able to use the paper to learn about contrasting colors and layering paper to create art. The students will be able to make many projects with construction paper. Thank you for helping support the arts in school!
