This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Drafting, sketching, and imagination are all processes technical design students must go through in order to create and bring a theatrical set to life. Set Design and Construction.
Our student population come from low-income families and many students will be first generation college students.
Technical theatre and design is a popular course and the courses are always made up of students eager to learn theatrical design and construction. Our students are always eager to learn and go above and beyond what's expected. These courses allow our students to use their imagination to design and create amazing pieces of art that creates a new world where magic happens every night. We are requesting 2 cordless power drills for our set construction jobs for our upcoming fall musical, Little Shop of Horrors.
My Project
Down on Skid Row... creating a set that tells the story of two lovers stuck in a world where a man-eating plant is in power is the stage of our upcoming project. Students in our Introduction to Technical Design and our Advanced Theatrical Design classes will bring set design ideas to life.
Donations to this project will allow us to have more tools available to our students.
Since our program is growing, we have more students and a higher need for tools.
We are producing a full-length musical this fall and this heavy yet exciting task means we need to create a strong visual world that supports the action and music of the play. Students will be able to construct and paint multiple set pieces to create the world found in "Little Shop of Horrors". Platforms, Florist shop, skid row.
