My Project
No work, no credit! My students need writing materials because showing work is a must in their math class. They need index cards to write the math formulas that they need in solving math problems. They know that they learn math by doing math. They need to constantly practice doing math problems in the classroom and at home in order to achieve proficiency in the course. I'm using equitable grading practices where they are allowed to make corrections in their formative and summative assessments as many times as necessary until they master the learning goals. They move forward by correcting their errors and learning from their past mistakes. I admire their determination to learn math as they tirelessly work on improving their work until they get it. I want them to be successful in math and not worry about lacking the materials that they need to achieve this goal. By donating to this project, you will equip my students with the materials that they need to continue doing math problems which will ultimately help them achieve proficiency, if not mastery, in math. It's almost the end of the semester and we have run out of papers, index cards, and pencils. They start ripping out the remaining pages from their notebooks and move around asking for pencils from their classmates. Our pencil sharpener is no longer doing its job well. With sufficient materials in the classroom, my students will not be constrained by the lack of materials but instead be able to just focus on learning and being successful in math!
