My Students
The students in our building are full of excitement for learning. As our community is a "melting pot" in our area, our learners come from diverse ethnic backgrounds. In addition, there is a wide range of socioeconomic status represented within our community, which makes our student body very unique.
In order to better understand each other, our school holds a Multicultural Festival to celebrate what makes our community so unique.
Each grade level classroom focuses on a different country that is represented by our student population, and we showcase the unique and beautiful elements of that culture.
My Project
The books that we are asking for in this project show the multitude of different countries that are represented by the learners at our school. Our population is incredible in its diversity, but we are currently not able to represent their culture with literature as much as we hope.
By providing our learners with books about their countries and cultures, we will be fostering a sense of pride in what makes our school community so unique and beautiful.
We hope that by introducing these cultures through literature, we will be strengthening the empathy and understanding of the differences that make us who we are.
