My Project
Please help my students connect to nature so we can explore the effects of climate change through literature. My students are struggling to find inspiration and meaning in the beauty of nature. This is understandable since we are still coming out of the pandemic. I have discovered that unless my students have a context for the power of nature and how much it influences our lives, it is almost impossible for them to grasp what we are losing through climate change. It breaks my heart that they struggle with this so much.
Please help me help my students to see how important the beauty and serenity of nature is to their mental well-being.
My students need this understanding to be able to authentically contextualize the horrors of climate change and what that means to our world. Building a mossarium will give them context and will connect them to a beautiful eco-system for which they will garner both responsibility and ownership. We will explore this eco-system through powerful reading and imaginative writing projects as we explore together.
