Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My elementary school students are full of energy, and love to express themselves. They bring their joy and personality each day, and sometimes a funny anecdote about a loose tooth or their pet. Many of them do not have all the things they need, or a perfect environment at home, but they do have what's truly important: kindness and a willingness to try new things.
School is the way that my students connect with their world, and dancing allows them to experience and communicate their ideas and feelings.
Now, more than ever, students need to be able to share and process their emotions. They need to connect socially, emotionally, and intellectually. My students need to have a sense of community, even if we are physically distant in-person or remotely learning.
My Project
Up-to-date technology is paramount! I am currently using a 9-year-old laptop, which is not reliable. I was on the list to receive a new laptop, until the pandemic hit and we lost our funding.
Help me get a new laptop so that I can effectively plan and connect with my Dance students in-person and through remote instruction!
During this school year, I will be teaching in-person and remote classes. A new computer will allow me to reach students wherever they are. Updated technology will make interactions clearer, smoother, and and more reliable. Video is so important for dancers, and technology that can handle video processing will greatly enhance my teaching. 5-6-7-8-Let's Dance!
