This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My elementary school is located in Philadelphia. The school has a very diverse student population with the majority of students being Hispanic and or African American. More than 90% of the student population lives below the poverty level.
As the spread of the virus continues, my district has decided to go remote for the first marking period.
The MacBook Pro that I am requesting will ensure that I am able to reach out and connect with my students. I want to ensure that the equipment that I am requesting will facilitate learning with my students and enable me to be there for them during these trying times.
My Project
I need to update my computer hardware to meet the challenges of the upcoming school year which has switched to online learning. The students were given Chromebooks in March to help them stay connected during the pandemic. However, my equipment was not updated and it was a challenge to get my equipment to connect to meetings and websites where I would assign work.
Now, as my district is continuing with online learning I am worried that my current equipment will not be able to meet the challenges of online instruction.
My students are hard workers and they met the challenge last year, I want to ensure that I am able to keep them engaged in their learning and be there when they need me even if it is online.
The MacBook Pro will also allow me to assign and grade work and ensure timely feedback for students. I just want to ensure that I am there for my students and help them when needed.
