Connecting Prek Through Technology

My students need 2 Chromebooks to help them use and learn through interactive apps, academic software and learning websites. The printer will let us publish our work.

My Students

My students are 4 to 5 year old having their very first school experience and I want to make a lasting impression that schools care for you and each of them are worthy of learning, love and life. We are in a very large urban school district of over 50,000 students which almost 100% qualify as living in and or below poverty level. This is a challenge district wide but my babies are not only shining through the challenge of poverty they also are struggling with being English language learners. Many family adults do not speak English to help them with school. The project will provide teachers and parents a way to stay connected. Materials will be used for teachers to set up Web based learning programs and apps. We would love to get on computers and learn to create our own books, practice academic skills in fun new ways and find any book and music video we could think of to interact with. Even with the challenges we face, we still love life and are eager to learn and are in need of your support to succeed.

My Project

The Chromebooks and printer we are requesting will fulfill the final need to our tech in the Prek classroom and ESL home project. The Chromebook will allow teaching staff to run programs, adjust, follow-up on problems and communicate with families outside of school hours. Having the computers will allow connecting before, during, and after school hours and will double the family school communication for the Prek classroom. We can not express how excited we are that our project has come so far. This is the last step to a full home school learning connection between student, family and teachers. The computer Chromebooks will be the main hub for the teachers, students and families. Providing the students a full computer and color printer will allow us to create more projects we can author and illustrate of our own work and be able to share with our families and community.
