I am a third grade teacher at an Urban Charter School. Many of our children are considered to be "Title One" and come from homes where they have limited opportunities to use math in everyday life.
Students do not see that the math they are learning about in lessons is so important without us showing them. Math Literature is a key part of a successful math program because it does just that: it connects math to real life!
In order to have a successful math program, we need a variety of math literature books and teacher activity books to accompany them. Our students love it when we do activities in math with literature, and we need quite a bit more to make our students successful!
With your donation, my students will be able to connect a lot of the math they are learning about to real life context. They will see how relevant the lessons they are learning are, and take a stronger interest in their learning.
