My Students

Our 6th graders are truly amazing. Each day, they persevere by engaging in rigorous instruction through an extended day of learning activities. Despite obstacles, our first cohort of 6th graders has committed themselves to maintaining a strong culture of reading, writing, and learning in our classroom.

In fact, I've never seen students so passionate and excited about reading.

Students will try to squeeze in extra moments with their books at lunch, in the hallways, and during snack. It is a wonderful thing to see. Now, we're trying to expand on that love of learning and love of reading, to offer academic experiences beyond the classroom.

They are truly on a mission to succeed in college and be leaders in their communities. Our students deserve the best educational experiences possible, and we hope to give that to them with your help!

My Project

Our sixth grade reading curriculum has students reading, discussing, analyzing, and writing about A Wrinkle in Time. Students are incredibly excited about the text, and it is providing us with ample opportunities to hone in on critical reading and writing skills while simultaneously enjoying good literature.

Through this field trip, my students will be able to compare and contrast the book and film versions of A Wrinkle in Time, and make curricular connections outside of the classroom.

This experience will also help struggling readers be more engaged and excited about reading this book, will align directly with Common Core reading standards, and provide opportunities for writing and exciting discussions. With this, they can turn what would be just another reading assignment into a life experience.

Your donation to this project will help my students learn, connect, analyze, and think differently. Your donation will help my students have special educational experiences outside of the classroom. Your donation will continue to foster the strong culture of learning and reading we have in our classroom. I thank you for your help!
