This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Our school is in North Philadelphia. We are a pre-K to 8th grade public elementary school with a large population of English Language Learners.

Our school has 20 beginning English Language Learners (from Puerto Rico, the Dominican Republic, Guatemala and Yemen) in grades 4-8 who receive support in a small group setting.

We focus on listening, reading, writing and speaking skills. We are hoping to use Chromebooks to submit our writing pieces using Google Classroom. We'll be able to help each other edit and share our writing!

My Project

We currently have three laptops to use in our Grades 4-8 English Language Learner small group pull-out instruction. We are hoping to receive three additional laptops in order to enable all of the students in each small group to connect to Google Classroom simultaneously.

We will be using Google Classroom to share, edit, and present our writing pieces.

We use sentence frames to structure our writing. Google Classroom and Chromebooks will help us to receive peer and teacher support to revise our writing pieces so that they are ready to publish. We plan to project our published pieces on the Active Board to showcase our hard work to the group.
