My students need art supplies, like pencils and markers, and books that connect art and stories, like "When A Line Bends A Shape Begins" and "When Pigasso Met Mootisse."
Do you remember your first grade teacher reading to you? Do you remember Art time? Can you imagine anything more fun than learning about and doing the art you read and hear about? My students LOVE it!
We are a charter school in Southern California with a heavy emphasis on The Arts.
It is an amazing, creative place where children come to learn and express themselves through the different forms of art.
My students are first graders with a lot of enthusiasm! Our classroom is filled with hard work, singing, drama (the theater kind!) and fun! They always look forward to art on Fridays. So I work hard to try to find projects that teach not just entertain!
My Project
Our days are filled with academic activities combined with fun and games. The students work hard and they look forward to Friday afternoons when we do art. They learn about lines and shapes. They learn about artists and technique. Monday morning, they're already asking about Friday's project! They are passionate about it and look forward to it! I want to give them a well rounded learning experience. Not just reading, writing and arithmetic...those three and ART! Help me create an art library with great lessons and the materials needed to create it! I want to teach them
Monet, Van Gogh, Matisse, Picasso, O'Keeffe!
Great artists with wonderful lessons to share with the kids. Making art accessible to kids gives them another place to be successful. Maybe they're not the best readers or writers. Maybe math is really challenging for them. But in art, there are no mistakes, no wrong answers! Here they can find success and with success comes self esteem. Can you imagine what that would feel like? Help me help them! Let's get drawing!
