This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I teach physical education for K-5 students in an equity plus school where 96% of the students qualify for free or reduced lunch.
Imagine my surprise when I arrived at my new job and found an extremely limited amount of physical education equipment. What equipment I do have is old and worn to the point that most of it should be discarded. Unfortunately, I have no budget and cannot afford to discard anything.
The numbered poly spots will enable me to integrate math with physical education. For example, to support learning multiplication, addition, and subtraction, I will call out a problem and have the students run to the poly spot with the answer on it. The poly spots will also be useful for defining areas of the gyms so that students can work at different physical fitness stations.
Your donation will enable these students to have quality physical education materials for the first time in their elementary school career, and the poly spots will help support the development of mathematical as well as physical skills in my students.
