Connect Literacy and Science With Trade Books

Help me give my students childrens books written by real scientists in the fields to enhance their 5th grade science learning and literacy skills!

My Project

5th graders always like to ask, “why are we learning this?” With your generous donation of these trade books, I will have an answer. Students will see real life examples of how their 5th grade science learning is impacting our world!

From interesting animals that are critical to their ecosystems, to human impact, to life and sustainability on other planets, these books bring 5th grade science learning to life!

In each of our science units, these books directly connect to our NGSS standards and they will help supplement student learning and enhance my teaching.

When the lesson alone is not enough and my inquisitive students want to know more, these books will be their first resource! They will engage both avid and reluctant readers. We can’t wait for the addition of quality nonfiction science texts to our classroom library.

I am confident that texts like these will help inspire students to pursue courses and careers in STEM fields an make an impact on the future of our world!
