My Project

Have you ever tried focusing on a math problem while worrying if your classmates can smell your morning breath? Or read aloud in class when you're self-conscious about your unbrushed hair? For many fourth graders, hygiene insecurities can quietly sabotage their learning experience. I am seeking funding for “Confidence Kits”, a set of personal hygiene supplies designed to boost student self-esteem, support mental well-being, and foster a more engaged and confident learning environment.

Fourth grade is a pivotal year.

Students are transitioning from early childhood to pre-adolescence, and with that comes a heightened awareness of themselves and, unfortunately, of how they’re perceived by others. For some, home situations don’t always allow for reliable access to hygiene products. This can lead to social anxiety, bullying, or withdrawal from participation in class.

Research shows that students who feel clean, confident, and cared for are more likely to engage in school, participate actively, and perform better academically. Mental health and hygiene go hand in hand, and so does learning.
