This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Our Kindergarten students come to school every day eager and willing to learn all they can about the world around them. Their inquisitiveness is boundless and stretch their teachers' abilities to new limits.
Many of our students lack the experiences that other students of more affluent neighborhood schools.
They lack many of the basic necessities that are readily available to those children from the suburbs.
Since they are limited in resources available to them, many of our students lack the skills and basic foundations that their suburban counterparts.
My Project
These materials will develop a greater independence in math and science concepts. Students need hands-on materials to help them develop the necessary skills that they will take with them into their later years. These materials are highly engaging, adaptable to a variety of lessons and just plain fun to use.

According to Stein and Bovalino (2001), “Manipulatives can be important tools in helping students to think and reason in more meaningful ways. By giving students concrete ways to compare and operate on quantities, such manipulatives as pattern blocks, tiles, and cubes can contribute to the development of well-grounded, interconnected understandings of mathematical ideas.”
