Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I have recently met my future band students this past month as I begin to take over the band program at this school. Band for most of them has become a sanctuary or safe place where they have been able to express themselves and be creative.

I was very nervous coming in and meeting these kids because when new leadership takes over push back usually happens.

I found that the group of kids I inherited have been welcoming, kind, generous and helpful. It makes me very excited to see where the future of this program can go!

My Project

Currently at our elementary school, the band program has only three pieces of music in their music library. One of these pieces of music the students have played this past May. Leaving only two other songs that we can learn for next school year (four concerts total).

Helping us fund this project will give my students and I forty-five plus pieces of music that we can learn over not only the next five school years but for multiple decades to come.

I encourage you to help us reach our goal so that my students can have access to this great music and art form. Thank you for any consideration. We are grateful for any help for our program.
