My Students

I teach at a low-income school and the students I teach have such a love for learning. I teach 7th and 8th grade math. I have seen these students create friendships and stand up to students that are not doing the right thing. Not only are they brilliant, but they are kind and compassionate.

These students are learners, explorers, and all around wonderful kids.

Although math may not always be their favorite subject, they are hardworking and persevere through problems.

My Project

Technology is an important part of our school community as well as a growing demand of life outside of the classroom. We are currently 1:2 with devices for our 7th grade class at VC and we are seeing a huge need to have 1:1 access. The majority of our resources are digital across all core academic classes. These resources include Discovery Education TechBook, iXL, ReadingPlus, MobyMax, Kahoot, Desmos, Google CSFirst, Canvas and more.

We are so thankful to have the devices we have but it really limits how often we can use devices with each class since we have to share a computer cart.

We currently have a large class of 44 7th graders and access to 28 computers. Funds from this project would only be able to fund 3 more of those but it would get us closer to our goal of 1:1 access for 7th graders.
