My students need an ASUS Laptop to create games in Unity 3D, Raspberry Pi 2 to explore IoT projects, and Samsung Galaxy Tab S to develop Android apps.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Everyday students gain a greater appreciation for what can be done with programming. Biggest challenge I have is providing students adequate resources to support their creativity. “Everybody in this country should learn how to program a computer - because it teaches you how to think.” ~ Steve Jobs
Our school offers a concentration in computer science where students, over the course of four years, explore various aspects of the field.
Students come to us with such curiosity as to what it means to program a computer. Over the course of four years, some students become the hard core 10,000 line coders, others focus more on design and try to imagine new ways to infuse technology into our lives, while others find that though they like computers this is not the field for them. Regardless of what route a student takes, they all leave with a foundation and appreciation for computer science. Sometimes students write back that something they learned in a computer class has helped them out in college or that they have decided to pursue some aspect of computer science or information systems because of their experiences in high school.
My Project
Over the past year the interest in creating games using Unity 3D has increased. Students have been bringing in their personal laptops in order to program using Unity 3D because our computer labs currently do not support. The ASUS ROG laptop will increase the access to program in Unity 3D and relieve the students from having to bring in their personal laptops.
Recent field trips showcasing emerging technologies have introduced the world of Internet of Things and Wearable Technology to students. Raspberry Pi 2 will allow students to explore various projects that extend programming beyond the computer.
Samsung Galaxy Tab allows students to innovate by creating Android apps using Java. This is one of the few unique technologies most students interact with everyday.
Students learn better when they see the relevance of what they are studying.
In order to break away from the traditional textbook examples, these donations will allows us to begin projects where the students can really take ownership of their education. Students will be proud to share what they were able to accomplish with family and friends. There will be purpose behind what they are learning.
