Computers to Creatively Combat Climate Change in the South Bronx

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Our school is a small school of just about three hundred students in grades 9-12. We are located in the South Bronx, although our students do come from neighboring communities within the Bronx.
More than 90% of our students qualify for free or reduced-price lunch.
We also have a several dozen students that are homeless or doubled up. These students do not have easy access to school supplies and basic essential supplies a teenager might need to thrive and succeed.
Thankfully, these students could get a strong start at the beginning of the school year if we are able to provide them with basic supplies that they might need.
My Project
In their 10th grade science and math class, students are expected to create a video using experimental science data they have collected as well as NASA climate data they have analyzed. They create a video using video editing software. However, many of our students do not have access to computers at home and struggle to complete this part of the project. Having access to computers to complete this project is an important part of completing their studies in the 10th grade. They will be access video editing software, as well as frequently check teacher and student feedback provided through google classroom.
