My Students
My students love to learn and explore new information. Every day I see new examples of their passion for learning as they strive to do their best in all areas of academics, including technology.
These fifth graders are smart, funny, and endlessly curious.
They are a part of a wonderful K-12 public charter school in Utah with a focus on engaged, research-based learning. We are an excellent Title I school with over 40 percent of our students qualifying for free or reduced-price lunches.
As a school, we excel annually, testing as one of the top schools in the state on standardized tests. We do more with less, and we are proud of it. My students are eager to learn, and it shows!
My Project
As technology becomes more and more vital in the world in general, it is becoming a necessary tool in education as well. My students need regular access to a computer for research, supplemental learning resources, and educational tools. We only have access to our school's computer lab for one hour each week. This is not enough time to truly take advantage of all the resources a computer can provide.
Classroom laptops would allow flexibility in when my students can use the computer and would give them additional opportunities to become familiar with and comfortable using computers.
It will also allow me the opportunity to use resources that would otherwise be limited in my classroom.
This project will directly impact historically underfunded classrooms.
