This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
A typical day in my classroom consists of students who are excited to learn. I have 20 students, all new to this country. Although they are excited and eager to learn, they are also frustrated learners. As an educator, I would love to provide an opportunity to them to reach their full potential
My students are eager and excited to learn.
They are expected to take the same assessments as students who speak the English language. In my classroom, I only have three working computers. Most of my students do not have any form of technology at their homes, including computers or tablets. Students are expected to complete computer assignments at home on a daily basis. Typically, I come to school early to allow my students use the computers in the classroom in order to fulfill their educational requirements. These students are working very hard to build up to grade level requirements. Although I work at a great school that provides a lot to the community, the school is limited in funds to provide students with tools and technology to achieve their educational needs.
My Project
My students work in math, science and social studies stations three times a week. These Cromebook stations are a way for me to work with students individually in order to meet their needs. This process is called differentiated instruction and enables me to understand and work with students in areas where they need additional assistance. Working in small groups, helps me to better guide and assist students in areas where they are lacking. As I am working with my small groups, other children could work in other workstations such as computers, listening station, etc.. Having additional computers in the classroom would benefit my students greatly though the use of technology.
The donations of computers will improve my classroom immensely.
Most of my students do not have access to computers in their homes. I will be able to give them access to a whole new world where technology will provide them the educational tools they need to meet their educational goals. Technology is a driving force in education, access to these computers will be able to open my student's minds to all of the possibilities that technology can offer them.
