This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

In my computer science classroom, students are required to watch and listen to lesson videos and work through examples, including coding, code tracing and number conversions. In an effort to save waste and to allow them to collaborate, I often have students write on the desk with dry erase markers. I model this behavior by doing the same when working with them. This allows me to give 1-on-1 or 1-on-2 instruction easily without having to go searching for paper that's just going to be thrown away.

To make this classroom successful, I need to have a headphones for every student and enough dry erase markers to allow students to do their work.

Our school is low income so I cannot expect students to be able to provide these materials themselves. I currently have some headphones and markers, but as our program continues to grow I do not have enough for and entire class to have them. These will remain as classroom resources and will be utilized for several years to come.
