FORE! Learn to CODE! How do we teach our kids Computer Science and all the 21st century STEAM skills of the future WHILE learning the a life long game... GOLF.
Here at Rockwell School we want to get the kids MOVING while learning how to CODE!
This donor's choose plan will help kids have more opportunities to learn Computer Science while creating their own mini golf courses for their robots to navigate through.
FORE! Watch out for robots program through mini golf courses we built in our classroom!
My Project
As a life longer golfer and computer science teacher... I have the best lesson ideas come to me on the golf course. While putting the other day it hit me! I have the best lesson idea that would be able to teach my students computer science, engineering, math, design and the love of golf.
My idea is to teach have the student create their own mini golf course and then program their robot through it!
They would be able to design the hole then test out the hole by learning to golf themselves as well as programming the robot to navigate through the hole. In the end they can have challenges between the student golfer and the student who programmed the robot. How awesome is this! We tested it out with some of the golf putting greens I had from home along with my own children's putters. The students used supplies around the classroom to create obstacles. It worked great!
I am writing to you to see if you had old or extra putting greens or other supplies that you are willing to donate to make this project continue in my school. I teach k-3 computer science at Rockwell School in Bethel CT. All of the students come through my classroom weekly. This would be a great opportunity for them to learn computer science as well as the love of golf.
