My students look forward every week to Friday because that is when I teach Computer Science. The look on their faces when they realize they programmed something is unforgettable. They enjoy the challenges and love working together as team.
I am the Special Education teacher in a low income area in Brooklyn, NY.
We are a Title I school. My 5th grade ICT class integrates special education students into the general education classroom/curriculum. My students are bright, responsible, energetic and curious to explore and learn new things.
My Project
Computer science is an essential 21st century skill for students today. We are responsible to get students college and career ready. According to Code.org, computer science majors earn 40% more than college graduates of other majors.
Teaching Computer Science in my classroom will give my students the skills to thrive in the world that they will be a part of.
The materials I chose for this project are various games and books that help teach the concepts and skills of Computer Science. There is nothing better than watching your students enjoy learning. I believe the games and books chosen for this project will help teach the Computer Science concepts in a fun and engaging way. Please help support Computer Science in my classroom!
