My Students

I teach Computer Science via robotics at a Title I school. My school consists of students from a low socioeconomic status, where more than 90% of the students receive free breakfast and lunch. There are a limited number of resources for my students in computer science.

In order to give my students the best experience with of Computer Science through robotics, my school is in need of updated robotics supplies.

During the pandemic my students were not able to engage in the physical aspect of robotics. We engaged in virtual learning. There was little to no communication. Now that school has returned, students are engaged, communicating and excited. In order for my students to have the greatest learning impact, I would like for my students to work in smaller groups thus receiving the greatest learning impact of computer science.

My goal is to introduce my students to Computer Science and STEM fields, (Science, Technology Engineering and Math) to prepare them for applicable careers. I want ensure that all students regardless of the socioeconomic status should be provided with equal access to learn and engage in computer science.

My Project

Computer Science is a growing field. Not only is computer science the study of computers and algorithm processes. It spans across a range of topics that can be seen across the curriculum and used in the real world. As we know the pandemic has cause some social and emotional challenges for students. Through computer science new relationships can develop as students engage and learn computer science practices.
