This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are my kids, my classroom is my home, and our classroom is a close-knit family!

My students live in a very low socio-economic area in the Los Angeles District.

My students are eager to learn about all the subject areas, especially those of Math and Science during this age of technology. My students are amazed daily by all the possibilities they hear about, yet do not have access to.

My Project

My students need an iPad Air 2 (with its cover and stylus) as well as an Apple TV receiver to enhance their Math and Science abilities, and advance their education to the next level. The next level will expose them to COMPUTER PROGRAMMING! Yes! 5th Graders will be learning all about Computer Programming! We, the students and myself, will be able to use these tools to project all the apps involved with computer programming through the Apple TV receiver. This will allow all the students to participate visually. We will use apps such as Scratch Jr. (as a beginner course), Kodable Class, Scratch, Move the Turtle (Programming for Kids), and Tynker. After attending the GATE Conference in Los Angeles, California this year and listening to how computer programming changed the lives of the guest speaker, I decided I had to introduce the skills of computer programming during Math and Science in my classroom!

The donations of the iPad Air 2 with the cover and stylus pens, and the Apple TV receiver will definitely improve my classroom's readiness for the 21st century skills.

And even more importantly, these items will increase the motivation level of these kids who don't have access to such technology at home. With the help of all the generous donors and Infosys, I know my project will come alive and my kids will be learning a whole new skill: Computer Programming!
