Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
The use of chromebooks is a daily task in our classrooms. Our Kindergarten students come to our Title I school with very little prior experience using computers. Therefore, learning how to manipulate a chromebook is a huge learning curve. Specifically, using a small mouse pad is developmentally challenging for 5/6 years olds to manipulate a mouse pad.
Students are required to use online learning platforms (ex: iready reading and math) daily.
Students are also required to take our districts iready reading and math diagnostic on computers. I have noticed it is difficult for students to show what they know to their fullest potential because they have a hard time using the mouse track pad. Therefore, our 3 Kindergarten classes are in need of 3 class sets of computer mouses! This would greatly help students feel more confident when using their chromebook. In return, the technology won't hinder their ability to show their best work.
