How exciting is it for an 8 or 9 year old to work on a computer, save his work, continue working, or take it home to share with his parents? How comforting is it for a student to listen to just the computer she is working on without hearing other noises in the room?
My students are wonderful!
They attend a small school where everyone knows everyone else. They are the only 4th grade class at our school and have been working together since kindergarten. They love school, respect one another and love to learn. The school they attend is considered home to many of them. Most of the students qualify for free or reduced lunches and the little extras to enhance their education are sometimes hard to come by.
My Project
I am asking for computer headphones, computer flash drives and 2 SDHC cards for our camera. My students are lucky to have computers in our room. They are learning various computer programs and how to type and import photographs. The headphones will allow the students to work on the typing programs quietly and allow them to hear only the feedback that their individual computer gives. The flash drives will enable the students to continue to work at home, as well as share what they have done in class with their families. Many of the projects they are working on need these external drives because they will take up a lot of memory. Flash drives will allow the students to use any computer in the classroom. The SDHC cards will allow all the students to take many pictures for our classroom newsletter.
Please help and make a difference for a child who loves to learn!
You can inspire them to create pieces of work using technology. You can enable them to be proficient on the computer. You can help to create a quieter environment in the class so all students can learn. You can help inspire a love of photography just as strong as mine.
