This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students always beg for time to research and typed their essays, surf the net, read, and practice typing. This new laptop will also provide me with more opportunity to differentiate small group instruction as well as academic intervention.

My sixth grade students attend a public school that is located in one of the poorest congressional district in New York.

Approximately 98% of of them receive free lunches. They arrived every day to school with a willingness to learn despite many obstacles that they have to face on a daily basis that can hinder their learning.

My Project

Student outcomes include: 1. Students spend more time engaging in collaborative work than non-laptop students 2. Students participate in more project-based instruction 3. Students lead to more student writing and to writing of higher quality 4. Laptops increase access to information and improve research analysis skills 5. Students become collaborators (interact with each other about their work) 6. Students direct their own learning 7. Students students report a greater reliance on active learning strategies 8. Students readily engage in problem solving and critical thinking in small groups

Students learning and engagement will increase because they would learn how to research and type their essays, surf the net, read, and practice typing.

Having a laptop in my class with a large screen will also allow me to access and use differentiated/intervention instruction.
