Computational Thinking in Math!

I need to cover $1998 for the Pathfinders Summer Institute professional development. It will cover everything relating to this week, including air fare, housing and training.

My Students

I am just finishing my 12th year of teaching. Over the years, I have worked with a wide variety of students in both ability and personality.

My passion for teaching has just increased each year as I work with each one of these students.

I want them to succeed and so I try to make sure my students are learning those skills that will help them to be prepared for the jobs of the future.

Although my third and fourth grade students seem to be constantly using technology, they only have a superficial knowledge of it. In such a technological society, these skills will be mandatory.

My Project

Technology is changing rapidly. The way we teach is also changing, but not as fast. With this training, I will be able to help my students to meet the challenges that technology offers by learning how to implement this training in my classroom. I will also be able to help them develop computational problem-solving skills through the use of technology in the mathematics setting. My students will learn basic coding skills while increasing their engagement in mathematics. This will become a direct path to working with and solving real world problems. I am excited to be able to show my students the relevance of their use of math in their everyday lives.
